Showcasing a brand new high-fibre ingredient that replaces fats and invert sugars in prepared foods.

Pennotec is pleased to announce the launch of a new, patent-pending, healthy fibre ingredient which can substantially reduce fats and sugars in prepared foods. MilaCel® Plus, has been develop by food and agri-tech innovations business Pennotec (Pennog Ltd) with £52,814 of grant support from Innovate UK as part of the Nurturing Innovation in the Agri-tech and Food Technology Cluster for Mid and North Wales.

MilaCel Plus, which is produced from apples, will support healthier diets without compromising on flavour, texture or dietary function. It also provides additional dietary fibre and can be used in vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free cooking. Pennotec is calling on food manufacturers to use MilaCel Plus to achieve meaningful fat and sugar reductions, supporting cleaner labels and improved nutritional profiles.

Gwynedd-based Pennotec is engaged in R&D to create quality products for the benefit of health, environmental and societal wellbeing, using natural and sustainable technologies. MilaCel Plus is the culmination of nearly a decade of R&D in collaboration with Bangor University, Aberystwyth University and Food Technology Centres throughout Wales. All the while supporting local businesses and tackling one of the major causes of obesity. On Friday 27th February at 10:30am, Pennotec will be hosting a launch event at AberInnovation (Plas Gogerddan, Aberystwyth SY23 3EE) to showcase the ‘Sweet Versatility’ of MilaCel Plus. A tasting menu will be offered, comprising a diverse range of sweet and savoury prepared foods and baked goods with substantially reduced calorie, fat and sugar contents, which showcase the versatility of MilaCel Plus as a new cooking and baking ingredient.

This event is ideal for professionals in new product development, nutrition, education, commercial buying and public health policy who are seeking practical solutions to tackle obesity and meet evolving health and regulatory demands.
