AberInnovation's food-grade facilities provide flexible environments to support research, innovation, and new and existing product development in food, feed, and ingredients. They are designed to meet current industry needs in sustainability, circular economy practices, and product functionality. The individual spaces may be hired with the equipment listed below or can be used for equipment placement to carry out NPD trials without the disruption to existing production lines.

Liquid and Dairy Processing - Pilot-scale facilities for dairy and alternative product development with full on-site capabilities including:

  • Pasteurisation (batch and inline systems) with UHT capability and aseptic filling.
  • Fermentation equipment for products including cheese, koji style products, butter, yogurt and fermented beverages).
  • Ice cream and sorbet equipment
  • High Pressure homogenisation.
  • Membrane filtration (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis).
  • Heated vats for protein separation

Solid Processing and Spray Drying 

  • Pilot-scale tower spray drier.
  • Fluid bed drying, agglomeration, and coating.
