Webinar | Smart Systems: The Impact on the Food Supply Chain

Virtual webinar (Zoom)
December 01, 2020

Event time: December 01, 2020 - 11:00am - 12:00pm

The UK food industry faces significant challenges to remain sustainable. With major challenges on the horizon, companies can no longer rely on a low labour cost workforce to maintain low production costs and achieve economic sustainability. Smart Systems (SS) is being seen as an approach towards achieving significant improvements in both economic and environmental sustainability. However, there is little evidence to indicate whether UK food companies are prepared for the implementation of such systems.

This webinar will discuss Smart Systems technologies and their application to the food production supply chain in Wales. A range of digital technologies in the food system are already leading to better informed and engaged consumers and producers, smarter farms and improved public services.

What are some of the emerging trends in this space and how can your business capitalise on them?

We are pleased to be joined by Professor Andrew Thomas of the Aberystwyth Business School, who share with us the findings from a survey on Welsh food producers. Andrew will identify the key challenges and opportunities for the food industry to harness the power of Smart Systems to further improve supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
