Webinar | The Concept of Circularity: Transitioning from the Linear Economy

Virtual webinar (Zoom)
February 10, 2021

Event time: February 10, 2021 - 11:00am - 12:00pm

The circular economy is an economic model that seeks to eliminate ‘one-use’ materials and methodologies in the production of goods. In contrast to linear models of 'make, use, dispose', circular economy principles aim to keep resources in use for as long as possible while greatly reducing waste by recycling and repurposing materials wherever possible.

Join us for an interactive webinar in collaboration with BioInnovation Wales where we'll hear from Aberystwyth University's Dr Will Stiles and consider the economic rationale behind moving towards a circular economy. We'll explore some of the biggest opportunities arising from our pressing need to transition from linear to circular modes of production, focusing on a specific circular economy solution that aims to reduce agricultural waste as a case study.

-To what extent can waste be eliminated? What economic, regulatory and cultural shifts are needed to achieve this?

-What are the barriers to and risks behind transitioning, and how can they be removed?

-What do successful circular economy business models look like?

-How can producers, consumers and government agencies join forces to make lasting change?
